In the past couple months festival season has been in full effect. With thousands of people in attendance at these festivals problems can often arise easily. Recently Magnetic Mag and Billboard have been bringing to light the extortion issue at Moonrise Festival with attendees being taken advantage of. YourEDM has been talking about the security issues with previous felons being hired and unqualified workers.
YourEDM has brought to light a current lawsuit being filed against Backwood Music Festival. They had hired a bunch of previous felons to be the security guards. When an incident happened in which an attendee under the influence jumped the fence so that he could get out of the crowd. They proceeded to zip tie his hands and feet and left him on the ground behind stage. He ended up puking and choking on his own puke because of the position they had left him. So what really is the problem here? Are festivals getting lazy and hiring unqualified staff for cheap so they can make money or are they just so busy they can’t figure that out? Is it the security companies issue for not doing background checks? Or is it the problem of too many drugs are being taken because security is letting them in too easily? Security is meant to be there to keep us safe not to cause issues and be a burden to the attendees. I do not think that the lawsuit will stand in court because the man was under the influence of drugs however I believe the issue has now reached national spotlight.
